The salient monument being the 400-year old St. Andrews Church located at the entrance of the city.
The original St. Andrew's R.C. Church was founded in 1570. On 5th April of the same year, the first Mass was celebrated with great pomp. It was later destroyed by the Adil Shah's soldiers in1578. Later during the Portuguese regim, Viceroy Ferrao Teles de Menezes rebuild beautiful Churches of stone and lime. The present Church building probably dates to 1594. The church had a magnificent "facade" which was destroyed in the year 1950.
It enjoys a premier spot in Vasco and remains well highlighted and highly Respected.
