Varca

The 10 km strip of pristine beach south of Benaulim has become goa's most upmarket resort frontage. The five star resorts are exclusive, luxurious, extensive private grounds (some have private golf courses) and cavernous marble lobbies.

Thankfully it is possible to enjoy this relatively deserted stretch of coastline without spending a small fortune on accommodation. With your own transport you can find one of several beach access points in between the big hotels. There are generally few beach shacks and sun beds at the end of these lanes catering to the few independent tourist who come here.

How to reach here

Apart from personal transport there are public buses which run from Margao and Colva to Varca, but you cant get right to the beach with the public transport. A good spot to access the beach in Varca is just south of the Goa Renaissance Resort in a small area called Zalor. From here you can wander north and south and find deserted bit of sand.
