At the north west corner of Azad Maidan, the Institute Menezes Braganza and Panji Central Library occupy part of the old buildings that used to be the army headquarter. The entrance hall is decorated with four large blue-and-white pictures that cover the whole area. The scenes depicted on the azulejos (painted tiles)are taken from Os Lusiadas, an epic poem by Luis Vaz de Camoes
