Overview
The Convent and the Church of the Cross of Miracle is perched on the top of the hill in the southern outskirts of Old Goa. The visitors would surely love the view from the hill top. The church, though in ruins now, exhibits the medieval European church architecture.
The Convent and the Church of the Cross of Miracle is a wonderful laterite structure plastered with lime mortar. The church has got a very simple structure. Unfortunately, the convent was not maintained properly and now it is almost in ruins. The building has got numerous cells but the travelers will not find much to see over there. A church was specially set up with the objective of housing the Cross of Miracles in 1619, but it did not last for long. In 1674 the church was reconstructed on the same spot. The convent used to house the congregation of the Oratory of Philip Neri of Goa till 1835. The convent and church were abolished just after 1835. In 1845, the Cross of Miracles was shifted to one of the chapels in the Se Cathedral.
