Overview

Archaeological Survey of India museum was established in the convent in 1964. Its electic collection comprises 60 portraits of the Portuguese viceroys and governors of Goa. Other appealing exhibts are a statue of Albuquerque, a model of Vasco de gama's Sao Gabriel in which he sailed to India in 1498 and a bronze statue of St Catherine from the Viceroys Arch. Displayed in the museum are also grey basalt stone statue of Vishnu (hindu god) and a Standing Surya ( Sun god) , both dating back to kadamba period. Also exhibited are stone slabs with inscriptions in Marathi and Persian languages, Hero stones, sati stones, coins and wooden christen iconography.
Museum Timings: 9 am-12:30 pm, 3-6:30 pm
