Overview

Mobor is 16km south of Colva at he southern end of the Salcete coastline, where the river Sal meets with Arabian Sea. The Sal river forms the beautiful Mobor Peninsula as it cuts a broad swathe when it nears Arabian Sea. Till the late 1980s, this was just a barren stretch of sand with one village (cavelossim), a few fisherman's huts and long stretchs of sand used for drying fish...until The Leela and other five star hotels moved in and colonised the entire stretch. Today, it has a series of luxury resorts on both the sea and riverside.
But there are few places as pictureque as the mouth of the Sal River, where the Mobor sandbank ends and the beautiful Betul hillock rises on opposite bank. make it a point to go there along the beach, either walking or by cycle, as it's getting to sunset.

How to reach

Mobor is 35 km from the Dabolim airport, a pre-paid taxi costs around Rs. 450. From Madgaon railway station it is arounf 15km, a pre-paid taxi would cost you around Rs. 250. Busses from Margao's city bus stand near the municipal gardern leave every 30 minutes to an hour. An auto from here could cost around Rs.150.
Cavelossim is connected to Assolna across the river Sal by ferry every 15 minutes. Assolna is short distance via Chinchinim from NH17, which leads back up to Margao or south to Quepem and Cancona
