Following the cost southwards from the Sal river, opposite the narrow pennsula occupied by The Leela Palace resort is the ramshackle village of Betul. Few foregin tourist stay here and apart from getting loacl boatmen to take you out on the river or watching the fishermen unload their catch at the harbour, there's not much to do, but its very peaceful and a good taste of rural Goa.
